Install on an ATV or side-by-side
Same three wires, more vibration and more mud to design around.
Powersports installs fail for two reasons: water where you did not expect it, and vibration working a connector loose over a season. Both are solved at install time and neither is solvable remotely.
- 1Disconnect the battery
Same rule as everywhere else.
- 2Pick a dry cavity
Behind the front fender liner or under the seat. If your thumb can reach it with a pressure washer, so can the water.
- 3Red to constant 12V, fused
Straight off the battery positive or the main fuse block.
- 4Black to chassis ground
A frame bolt scraped to bare metal beats a painted bracket.
- 5Yellow to a switched circuit
The accessory or ignition circuit. On most machines the easiest tap is at the key switch harness.
- 6Strain-relieve everything
Leave a small service loop, zip-tie the harness twice on either side of the unit, and never let the tracker hang on its own wires.
Set the asset type to ATV and the rollover alarm is enabled for you. On a rental fleet this is often the first alert you actually act on.
